At our local chapter Healey meeting last evening there was a discussion as to what fabric should be used for the softtop. There was talk of vinyl vs. canvas and that let to the discussion of what the original tops were made of. Canvas or vinyl? None of us could say with certainity what the fabric was.

Help!

The majority of the original tops and tonneau covers after the early Vynide were made of Everflex. This was similar to the vynide in that the under surface was a light gray canvas while the outer surface was a pebbly vinyl.
Vynide, by the way seemed to be made of an off-white under surface canvas.
Everflex tops and tonneau covers are still readily available from a number of manufacturers.
