Healey seat recline

Hello all,

For those who may not know, Hendrix Wire Wheel in Greensboro, North Carolina makes an inexpensive kit that provides a better reclining angle for the Healey seat back by changing the height of the seat back pivot point. I shipped them my seat frame bottoms and got them back with the new parts welded in (and the frames freshly painted) in about a week.

Just installed them yesterday and the improvement in comfort is amazing! Highly recommended modification...

Just FYI

I wasn't able to find where they listed this service - can you identify? Thanks, Doug

Does the kit decrease or increase the angle of recline?

Apparently it's not posted on their website. I emailed them directly (hendrixwirewheel@mindspring.com) and Allen sent a pdf back to me that explains the product.

Basically it replaces the two brackets that mount the seat back to the bottom frame with new longer brackets that raise the mounting points higher. That has the effect of reclining the back of the seat several degrees.

If I can figure out how to upload the PDF to this forum I will....

Not sure if this will be large enough to see....

Would it still work on a roll up window car with the seat slid all the way back? I would think any reclining would hit the top spring cover. I have refrained from doing some of these mods because of hitting the parcel shelf when it is pulled down.

Since my Healey is a 100-6 BN6 I have no idea if the modification would work on your car. (Roll up windows? What are they?)
Allen at Hendrix was very helpful and quick with his responses so I would suggest emailing him and ask. I’m sure he would know for sure if it would work.

I put a couple of washers under the front seat pan hold-down bolts, leaning the whole seat back a couple of degrees. I didn't do it to get more recline, but to get some support under my thighs.
