Healey rear ends

is there any difference in Healey rear ends after the BN1? I have a 1953 BN1 that needs a complete rear end. Does it make sence to upgrade to the improved BN7, BJ8 set up? Any advise is much appreaciated!

As far as I know, the rear axle assembly didn't change (save for ratios) from the BN2 until the early BJ8. The "phase II" BJ8 had different bracketry affixed to the housing to accommodate the trailing arm links. I believe the available ratios to be: 3.54:1 (3000 w/o ovd), 3.91:1 (100/6 w/o ovd & 3000 w/ovd) and lastly 4.10:1 (100/6 w/ovd). The early 3000 may have the same ratios as the 100/6, but I'm not certain.

They were all the same track width.
