Healey Question

so this guy, not far from me in Denmark, apparently just imported some cars from the stats, in the pack there is a 100/6 austin healey 2+2 dont know year yet. - its with overdrive he says and i guess that hes not lying since buying and selling cars is his thing.
but the car needs to be broken down totaly and gone throuhg - and new parts for the inside (ecept for the seats) -
the car is for sale for 9.600 us dollers
i guess that i have to pay the mechaniker guy i know (who collected my frog) the same 2500 us dollers as i did with the other car. -
then i estimate that i wuld have to use 11.000 us dollers on paint and parts i need to get.

this adds up to some 23.000 us dollers for a 100% fixed up (using old parts if i can use the ones thats there) and newly painted car and all.

is it worth it ?? and is there anything i shuld be on the look out with the model ??

further more is there anyone from europe that got any cheep parts (used if they work)

thanks for all the input u can provide

Usually parts for sale in Revcounter, the magazine of the British AH club. Also if you speak French "La Vie de L'Auto" a weekly paper has bits from time to time.

Hi Soren

A four seat 100-Six is a type BN4. They actually come in three different variations. If it is an early model - 1956 to Nov 1957 it will have an integral intake manifold which only had two inlet ports. This restricted power and was the reason the 100-Six had some criticism on its introduction. These are actually quite rare now but not really popular (unfortunately)so they are the least expensive of the big Healeys. In Nov 1957 a new 6 port inlet manifold was introduced which increased power by 15%. These are similar to the 3000 manifolds.

To read details abot the 100-Six go to my site

www.healeysix.net

You'll see Im a big fan of this model and there are others out there who are as well (you know who you are!)

Like all Healeys the big question is going to be the condition of the frame (chassis) and the substructures (which you cant see). If all the parts are there then mechanically it can all be fixed. And even if they are not evrything is available. The potential big cost is in the frame, body repairs and preparation, paimting , and interior.

good luck /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
