Healey Prices

Wouldn't a superb BN2 with an aluminum head, headers and a cam be even more fun?

As someone who owned a standard BN2 and a real, authentic, honest-to-DMH 100M at the same time, I can report that the driving experience was indistinguishable. So one day a guy asked me if I'd sell the 100M, I named my price and he took it, and I've never looked back. If you ask me, the 100M is more about status than driving fun. My standard BN2 delivers every bit as much driving fun as the 100M, and I worry about it a lot less, too.

Of course, my standard BN2 is not so standard anymore with Le Mans distributor and carbs, and a warm cam and slightly-higher-compression-than-stock pistons. Here she is, in a recent formal portrait:

Hi Reid,

I can appreciate your perspective as I enjoy my BJ8 Phase 1 as much today as I did the day I picked it up from the dealer. However, although I tend to drive slower through the hills with my sound system playing a familiar Beach Boys song, I am transported back to when I was 25 and enjoying every minute. Agile, tight, and fast, both me and my Healey. Add to t he driving enjoyment is the constant intellectual challenges stimulated by the Forum when addressing the many issues presented.

All in all, this April will be 55 years with my Healey and, in July, 53 years with my Wife and I am still totally captivated by both.

Enjoy your Healey,
Ray(64BJ8P1)

Ray, Congratulations. Both wonderful milestones. I've been with my BT7 for 56 yeas and my wonderful wife for 51. Still love them both.

@ Reid: Great picture! Is that by Nick Veasey? I saw his work at an exhibition in Stockholm. Truly amazing!

It's by David Townsend. I also have a portrait of one of my Bugeye Sprites by David. He does great work, and very much customizes details to your individual Healey. For example, the Sprite has a wooden shift knob that couldn't be seen in the pix I sent him for reference, and when I reviewed a proof I caught that and a couple more little things. David gladly "fixes" everything so that your car is accurately presented. Here's the Sprite, with factory hardtop and a factory-style vent installed in it, wooden steering wheel and shift knob, etc.:

It's stunning! Looking closer at the pictures I realise that they are paintings. Veasey actually x-rays cars (and other stuff). Also very interesting pictures.
