my bn6 came with a custom dash pad and a mirror mounted on the windshield. i was installing a new pad and dash mirror today....and not for the faint of heart. i opened the mirror shipped from a forum supplier and noticed that the screws to attach the mirror in place were chrome or stainless phillips head sheet metal screws. i always thought that the dash mirror used 10-32 fine thread. after checking the healey dash captive nuts they appeared to be for 10-32 fine thread bolts. anyone know for sure? i was able to chase the threads and able to secure the mirror with 10-32 screws. at any rate if the 10-32 screws are correct why would they ever include sheet metal screws to attach??? really good way to destroy the threads of the
captive nuts!

I've just done exactly the same thing. Like you, I was supplied with sheet metal screws. Fortunately I ordered the correct ones: machine threads but they don't have pointed ends like the originals.
