As I said I like both. Of course I was being simplistic when I used the "call" analogy. However I don't mind wading through lots of emails since my schedule (retired) permits it. And I do like the character of the list as well as the forum.
 
I was on it for years. The people were great and very helpful, but I found the format frustrating and outmoded. On one occasion I asked why the group did not simply migrate to a message board like this site. I pointed out that on message boards, all discussions about a subject are in one place, it is easy follow the conversation, pictures share more easily, and the responses update instantly. Well, you would have thought I offered to have sex with their wives and drive their cars. They blasted me with some of the most bizarre responses I've ever read. Anyway, I came here for a while and found that a good percentage of the list folks visited this site and I stopped reading the list all together.
 
I use both. One thing is that, by-and-large, people use their real names instead of aliases on The List. I think that adds to the rapport.

I agree. I've been surprised more than once at finding out that someone with a moniker of "Big Healey Guy," as listed here, is Joe Doaks who lives down the street, or when you thought he was someone in the USA, you find out he's Joe McDoaks in Glasgow. At least our personal data shown at the left in each of our posts shows whatever location we choose to list. I think that "Oregon Rain Forest" (my listing) is clear to everyone.

I don't quite understand the fascination with CB-type "handles" used here so often. Maybe it is simply because "they can."
 
Also, the List isn't moderated, so tends to be more 'free-wheeling.' If I want to fire off a string of four-letter invectives, I can do so, but I don't (usually).

Nothing against moderation (it has its place). Reid is very tolerant--presume he heard some pretty, uh, 'colorful' language in his Army days--but people talk and act different in a church than in a bar.

As a Mod I try to keep things within the Admin's (the owner-operator's) rules. I've been at this for 15 years and honestly the Healey Forum is very well-behaved. The number of times I've intervened in one way or other (delete a post, move it, lock it, edit it, etc.) probably averages once per year, if that.

Say, I wonder of one or more of you good chaps would post an invite to those subscribed to the Healeys Mail List for "listers" to come here and have a look? A couple of personal recommendations/endorsements goes a long way. I don't make any $$$ doing this - I'm not on commission! - and so it means nothing to me financially, but I suspect that there is a fair number of listers who don't know about the BCF, or haven't visited in a long time, and the more the merrier.
