Healey home coming

I wanted to take a moment and express my appreciation and good fortune to be a part of the BCF. Special thank you goes to Basil. For starting this forum six years ago and making it what it is today.

The love for our cars and the wealth of information, advise, opinions, knowledge and willingness to help fellow Healey owners is priceless.

I feel blessed to have found and acquired the same year Healey that my father loved and drove as a daily driver back when I was a child. Mother would tell me how much she enjoyed riding with him in the Healey. I miss my parents dearly, for they have both passed on. I always thought the Healey was beautiful and how cool was my dad for driving one. Everyone has a story why we drive a Healey.

I always told myself, when the time is right, I too will own the same car my dad so loved. Now I know why he did. I became a proud owner of my 64 BJ8 in October of 2004. Two weeks later it was off to the body shop for what was suppose to be a beautiful, yet simple paint job. Well, we know how that goes. Well, here it is, 19 months later and I’m happy to say she came home yesterday, on a flat bed, in the rain. Photo attached.

So what did I do for 19 months besides beg and plead the body shop to work on my car? I pleaded to at least let me work on it. Which meant I was here on the forum asking questions about this or that.

Thank you everyone who helped me. Now that my car is home, I will be asking a lot more questions, as I am now going to put her back together. Hopefully down the road, I will be able to repay the kindness by offering help to others. Cheers everyone, Roger

Very beautiful Healey AUSMHLY, congratulations /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Having met Roger, I know it will be hospital clean in every nook and cranny. He is a meticulaus so he will probably be working on theis project for another 2 years. But it will be even more beautiful than what you see.
Good show,Roger.

I had the good fortune of being the 1st to see Roger's new baby this morning (see attached pic of Roger and his Ausmhly). Let me tell you folks, this is gonna be one killer BJ8. It sports a flawless paint job, straight-as-an-arrow bodywork, perfect chrome, dialed in gaps and, thanks to Roger's unwavering attention to minute detail, a fanatical devotion to originality. This baby's gonna take some prizes, for sure!
Congrats my friend on finally getting her home. I look forward to some fun times putting her back together with you.

Thanks guys. And your right, attention to detail will continue.

Well wouldn't you know, that the first photo of me with the Healey, would be the I just fell out of bed, bad hair day nonchalant look. Maybe the next photo will be of me in the Healey. Who doesn't look good in a Healey!....or leaning against one.

Congratulations Roger. You've worked hard for this and I know you will enjoy every mile in it. She's a beauty.

Congratulations. Great color scheme!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Your neighborhood looks identical to mine as well as the paint scheme (both car and house). That could be a picture of my next door neighbor.

What is your target completion date?

Drumroll please..................

I'll take it, oh wait it's not for sale, sigh.

Is that a step up in the garage floor at the door?, if it is I hope your sump plug clears it!

Hi Zblu, Looks that way, doesn't it. It's all smoke and mirrors as they say. Floor is cement, level with cement driveway. You can see the natural cement color at the begining of the garage floor, then the painted floor starts where the garage door meets. Seems to be a shadow on the paint about a foot in.

Now speed bumps in the neighborhood, those make me nervus. Cheers, Roger

Dumb question maybe, what did you paint the floor with??

Hey bighly, Dude, you are my neighbor! Well maybe not right next door. Have you been to Alice's Resturant? Randy Harris has the same color scheme also. We should all take a drive there some weekend. Image seeing 3 identical healey driving together.

Completion date: end of June. Now that I have her back, thankyouverymuch, I'll be working on her every night after work and weekends. Cheers, Roger

Floor was painted with a kit from Rustolum (sp). You can get it at HomeDepo. It's an epoxy paint. Nice finish. Oil, gas, even blood drips from working on the car, just wipe right up. Photo of the floor attached.

Roger,

Ya I go by Alice's whenever I drive the Healey to work. My return route from Foster City takes me by there.
