Tommy--

I have never heard of or seen an aluminum-skinned hardtop for a 100 but would certainly like to. Where are you located in Florida--I'm now in Miami?

If you can forward me the picture as an attachment to an email I will be happy to post it for you. Send it to me at:
awgertoo@aol.com.

Re: hardtop

Tommy - please that those pics to Michael, I would certainly like to see this also.
Very Interesting, I don't recall ever seeing any ads for an aluminum top? Has anyone else seen this? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

100-4 or 100-6?

Thanks
Bruce

Re: hardtop

the hardtop is for the 100-4 as Healey did not make one at that time it may be from universal laminations
PEACE OUT TOM

Re: hardtop

Here's the first of three photos that Tommy sent to me.

I recall reading that there were a few AL hardtops made for MGA's from which UL lifted the lines for its top. If this top is really made from AL is it possible that it was a prototype for the Ul run?

I've asked Tommy to verify the construction material and advise us.

Re: hardtop

Michael - thanks for showing the pics. If I wouldn't know any better, I would say that the top in the photos was actually your top in the rough before being painted. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Jim--

No, I don't think it looks anything like my top which is shown in the attachment. See that whereas the NICAL top is round in the back much like the factory tops from which it was patterned this one is essentially flat.

BTW I had it wrong about the MG AL top--for the correct story go to: https://mgaguru.com/mgtech/top/top120.htm

Re: hardtop

Attached is the first of three more pictures that Tommy sent to me. He is sure that the panels are aluminum. My friend Charlie Braum from Pittsburgh is knowledgeable on 100 tops and he says he has heard of but never seen an AL top and has sought the advice of 100 hardtop maven Doug Auberg.

Re: hardtop

And here's the last. Frankly I can't tell much from the photos and hope we can learn more about this interesting item.
