Healey Fastback Concept

GregW, absolutely correct, the car is too small overall for the design to work, which is a pity as it looks superb. The real blue fastback shown above displays the higher roofline required to make it work.

Gotta say I like both the fastback coupe Rick photo shopped and the Gerry Coker coupe John shared ... guess I'm just a coupe kinda guy. After I installed the hardtop on my Works Rally Tribute car, the only time I ever took it off was for interior pictures (better lighting). All that said, my current BJ7 build will be a convertible, as original. Why?... hardtop prices for roll-up window cars have gotten too high for me to justify... even when I can/have been accused of spending stupid money on the build, I have me limits!

Reid, thanks for that great bit on the Healey Fastback Concept!!!

Steve

I vote for the red coupe. Proportions are better. Look at the first Porsche Panamera - looked like a "humping dog". Latest version looks much better.

Here's another coupe, Bruno Verstraete's D'leteren that's coming up for auction. Read the interesting history here: https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/26108/lot/18/

If you squint your eyes, that really seems to work. Now, if I can just find a 911 cheap. In terms of using another car roof to create a fastback, here's a Triumph GT6 top on a 100

And even the MGB folks got into the fastback idea:

Exceptional MG MG/B1800 Berlinetta created by the Belgium Jacques Coune in the 1960s, vehicle produced in only 56 units, very rare nowadays, fully restored in 2017 and equipped with the 4 cylinders engine of 68HP.

Wow, that MGB looks amazing and the silver colour makes it look like some very rare upmarket Italian coupe. Never seen one before. Deserves a much better engine than 4 cylinders and 68 hip!

I am making one of my rare visits to BCF - you've certainly started something here Rick, very interesting.

In answer to Reid's question raised on 8th September - who owns the two AH 3000 based Coupes?

It's a Mr. Donald Humphries, who lives in my "neck of the woods" but I don't know him.

The Blue car was designed by Healey at Warwick and the Red car (a simpler design easier to manufacure) was desgined by BMC at Longbridge.

The AH 3000 concept lost out to the MGC GT.

Regards,

Nick
