Healey Color Combination

Hello

My BT7 originally came with red exterior and red interior. I am thinking about whether to restore it back to original or whether to go for a black interior instead. Does anyonw have any photos of a red car with a red interior that they could share with me?

Thanks

Myles

Hey Myles,
I sold this red with red interior BN6 a couple of months ago but you can still
see it on my shutterfly account at:

1959AustinHealeyBN6.shutterfly.com

This will give you and idea of a red with red Healey, although a two seater
versus your 4 seater. I personally thought it was too much red, needed
black piping to break it up a bit and believe that it would have come that
way. It was restored back in the late 90's and the previous owner simply
went with solid red. Red with a black interior with red piping looks great
as well and really compliments the red exterior. Might think about going
with black coves too !!

Regards,
Mike

My BJ8 came with red/red. I do not have any pictures of that put together but I agree with above that red/red is just too much red.
So I put a tan interior into my red car. Not original, but it looks good!

Hi Myles !!

I would surmise that black piping would have been org.! Only ONE way to 95%+ ish know and that would be to get the BMIHT Cert. for the car  !!

Another thought is that you just haven't "lived" until your
butt hits BACK seats !!! And THAT I know from experience as my car DOES have black seats.

The only way I know that your car might have arrived from DMH Co.
would be if was ordered that way.

I have driven Healeys with Blue, Red, Saddle, and of course black. Give me anything [maybe I should re-do my car & use white with black piping??] but black. :hammer: :wall:

:savewave:
Well ED, that is why they made the seat backs tilt forward so you could block the sun from the seats up front keeping the heat out of you rump.--Keoke-

That's exactly what I do Keoke, or I just put the top up for the first time in 28 years and find that it keeps the sun off me and the seats. I chose black with red piping for my red car.

At the risk of offending someone - and when expressing an opinion on something as subjective as color preference it is almost assured - there are many, many, many red-with-black-interior Healeys out there - it's almost a default choice - but very, very few in red with red interior. Very stylish and "period correct" if you ask me...

Mike's (Bighealeysource) car had a beautiful red interior, but it seems to me that red interiors tend to clash with the Colorado Red color which has orange hues.

that's right on!!!! But I do love the color!

Good day Miles, I do remember seeing a color brochure/poster, original from BMC, showing a red car with a red interior, it may have had white piping. I remember it looked quite nice. The male was offering a flower,he had stopped to pick, to a small girl in the car.

See page 17 of the June issue of HEALEY MARQUE, coming soon to a mail box near you (if you're an AHCA member).
