Healey Club Grille Badges & Badge Mounting

Re: Healey Club Grille Badges

Let me try again.

Grills have open areas where a piece of brass (so it won't rust) bar stock perhaps 1 1/2 inch long and 1/4 inch square, can slip through and be turned 90 degrees to act as a rather long or wide nut so to speak. No need to try to mess around with a normal nut and large washer. All of this is easily done from the outside of the grill with no need to try to fish ones hand on the inside of the grill to hold the bar. I believe most badges can use an 8-32 thread or perhaps a 10-32 thread bolt or machine screw if you a technical. By drilling the brass bar stock in the center and tapping it to 8-32 or 10-32 you can use a longer bolt and simply attach a badge to most any grill without drilling holes in the grill. You would screw the bolts into the bar stock first (badge has bolts going through it) and slip them through the grill. Pull back on the badge so the bar stock is against the inside of the grill and tighten the bolts.

Not sure I can explain it any better.

Re: Healey Club Grille Badges

Hi Bruce, No sarcasm intended. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif I thought your explanation was ok and obviously needed. I was Just taken by surprise when it was suggested that holes had to be drilled in the grill to mount them.I thought it was pretty common knowledge as to how they are attached. Cheers-Keoke

Re: Healey Club Grille Badges

AH!! OK. It is really hard to get the feeling of what one is saying or how they mean it. Sorry. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Re: Healey Club Grille Badges

Thanks Michael. I didn't consider mounting in that way. Most badges already have holes in them, and include screws so I'll reconsider mounting them.

Re: Healey Club Grille Badges

Johnny - if you read what I wrote above, it is easier. No need to try to get a hand behind the grill to hold washers or nuts. All done from the front and takes about 30 seconds.

Re: Healey Club Grille Badges

I've been looking for the Healey-Lake Tahoe badges myself and they are not easy to find. I have only two of the four or more that are out there.
I have a couple of Lake Tahoe badges that I believe are a set because they have the same design but are different shapes. I'm looking to sell them if you're still looking for some authentic grille badges. I actually have at least a dozen different Austin Healey grille badges I'm looking to sell, so if you're interested or know someone who is, here is my email: tylerrikard194@gmail.com Feel free to pass this along to anyone who may be interested.

I collect Healey Club Grille Badges from around the world. I am always looking at adding to this collection. If you have a Healey Club grille badge for sale, or your club has one, or you know where I can get one, please let me know.
I just got more then a dozen Healey grille badges from a friend. I'm looking to sell them. Are there any in particular that you're looking for?
