I'm having my 100-4 Lemans engine rebuilt & we're at the stage to decide on pistons to use. I have a set of older NOS Jahns pistons that my bore size can be machined to work with. These pistons are 3 ring 8.5:1 compression ratio, but are for the older design wide piston rings. I'll be using a Elgin street performance cam 262 deg.,Lemans H6 carbs & Derrington header exhaust system. is there much advantage to use modern design pistons/Rings over the older Jahns pistons, that I have available? I'm not looking for race car performance, just a reliable 100-4 but with some extra performance

Well, it really depends on what you want to send. JE, https://www.jepistons.com/
and Arias, https://www.ariaspistons.com/ will make you anything you want in the lightest most efficient design available. Turn around time is a couple weeks (both shops are in Cali) and they will probably improve you performance. I've used both in my race engine with good success, but if you don't plan to live at 6000rpm use the money somewhere else on your reservation if the pistons you have are good.
