Headlight relays!.....

I haven't used them for just headlights, but should work out fine.

My plan is to use self-resetting circuit breakers, after I found some for $3.50 each at a local electronics store. I'll hide them and the relays, to minimize visible changes.

Question for Randal? What does the purple wire represent? I was expecting three wires, low beam, high beam and ground? Did you create a new harness from dimmer switch to each headlight? IF purple wire is the power to drive lights, did you connect this to the A1fused connection to maintain amp meter functionality?
