Help!

After a long drive last night, the headlamps worked perfectly and shut off just fine.

This morning, the headlights would neither rise nor shine when the swtich was pushed down.

When switched to parking lights only, all the front and rear and side lights worked fine. When the switch is pushed all the way down, only the interior instruments lights worked. The lamps did not appear to shine nor did the headlights try and rise.

When the light switch is "on," there's no high beam indicator as there would be in the lights were working but not elevating.

As an aside, the high beam indicator does flash when you pull the stalk towards you. I could not tell if the lights acutally illuminated.

Can anyone help me? I need to get home tonight!

I thought I'd fill in on the tests completed so far. I have determined that I have power to the light switch but that it only operates in the parking lamp position. There is no power to a blue wire in the connector that plugs into the light switch. I took the switch out of the car and found the contact s corroded up. Cleaning them up with an emery board did not establish a new connection. I bought a toggle switch from a local parts store and jury-rigged the system so that it operates from both switches. The regular switch establishes contact with the pod motors, and the toggle switch - resting on the console - sends power to the lamps. A new switch should arrive tomorrow and then I can get back to more conventional operation.

When I get the new switch, I'll take the old one completely apart and see if there's a broken plastic piece in their preventing the connection.

Thanks for reading my post!

Jeff
