Tomster, it looks like you have a picture of a standard headlamp with a tripod ring over it.
This would be a better focused light and probably be legal.

To me, the tripod "overlay" looks a bit cheezy. On the other hand, I always was very happy with ORIGINAL Lucas P700 (round center logo) or Lucas PL700 ("shield" in the center) lamps, both of which I felt were an improvement over the lousy tungsten sealed-beams of years gone by. Perhaps the current repro tripod lamps have gotten better, but early ones were NOT very good.

this part looks much closer. it looks like it just replaces the chrome ring around the outside. i think it's more for looks than anything.
