Header Rail Seal

The header rail seal was missing when I got my 1974 Midget. I was just on the phone with MacGregor and he no longer has them. He strongly cautioned against ordering a new one. Told me the original ones were molded and compressed nicely when the top was fastened while new ones are extruded and much to stiff.

Does anyone have any experience and/or recommendations?

Thanks

I bought one for my '69 Sprite had a similar experience with a replacement seal that I ordered from VB. It wouldn't fit well and the rubber was too stiff when you locked down the latches. I ended up going back to the original, even though that seal was not in great shape. I'm not sure if there is a good substitute that you can fabricate on your own.

The ones I've purchased in the past were fine; very soft and pliable. However, it's been several years since, so it sounds like things have changed.

Thanks guys, I plan on ordering one through Peter C. If necessary I will try and trim it.

Let us know if Peter has the correct one, Tom. He'll have lots of business if he still does.

Kurt.
