Head Question

Will a later head('74), work on an earlier('70)engine? I know I'll need a different gasket. I'm already using later intake and exhaust manifolds.

Maybe a better question is, why not, if you are already using the later attaching parts?

Another question is whether you already have a later head on the engine. The later intake won't fit the early head. If you have a late model intake, you probably already have a late model head on the engine. The exhaust is the same for both.

Good point, Bryan.........indeed, a very good point.

Probably is a late model head. This is a GT-6 engine with a TR-6 crank, so no telling where the head came from. I have a complete '74 engine to be rebuilt and installed someday, but I'm losing a lot of oil down the valve guides. Would like to just rebuild the '74 head and run it for a while.
