Head opinions

Hey Mark,

I recently had all kinds of trouble with guides for my 1500 head. I don't recall exactly where I picked mine up, but the IDs where all over the place, and the low-brow machine shop did not bother to check them before installation. When I had my head done AGAIN, the GOOD machinest reamed the guides and pushed in Manganese Bronze inserts. He builds race and high dollar Jag heads, and he will not use anything but Manganese Bronze. Soooo... you may consider double checking with Moss. The guides they sell for the 1500 may be OE style which are steel (I think).

Thanx Morris..

i am hopping Jeff has a set......

Have you dealt with Ken Gillanders at British Frame and Engine?

If not, I recommend you give him a call. When I was rebuilding my head, none of the big three had guides. I called Ken, had them three days later and the price was less than two of the big three.

where is this place located? i did not see anythin but a phone number on their site?

Mark, I've got a full set of the manganese bronze guides. No luck on the thrust washers, but I haven't stopped looking for them yet.
