take a look at this. the four air injectors are on the left, note the different lengths. the long one was way down to the intake valve. wonder what happened to the other 3. And i wonder where the pieces went?

what do you think of those intake seats?

Mark, the AIR tubes that I pulled from a 1500 head a couple of years ago were all short. The intake seats on yours look salvagable with a little cutting, but the exhausts are a different story! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
I would assume that you're replacing the guides, too?
Jeff

Those exhaust seats look gnarly in the photos, fer sure.

The long tube looks like it came outta an MGB engine!

here is a better pic https://www.britishcarforum.com/bcforum/photopost/uploads/1893/PICT1046.JPG

of course i will be replacing the guides, as soon as moss can get them to me. they are on Back order. i plan on having hardened seats put in the exhaust side. i will be plugging the air injection holes and NOT reinstalling the tubes. That long one was practically in the intake seat. some people....geeezzz

Can't figure why someone would eve DO that. 30 seconds with a hacksaw and -problem solved-! sheesh.

Allen head 'grub screws' look spiving in those port holes, Mark. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

#4 AN or SAE steel plugs work well, too Mark. 7/16" x 20 thread, with the proper cone on the end to seat.
I can't believe Moss B/O'd the guides! I get all of mine from APT. I may have a set of the manganese bronze guides here if you're in a bind.
Jeff

Gotta wonder sometimes just how they (Moss) run the place. I could see it if ya were lookin' for A10 bits.

Just checked my 'drawers' (hold th' chuckles)... All I have in 7/16 allen grubs is stainless, but they're COARSE (13 TPI?!?) thread. RATS!

Guides are the same for all of the Spits after '66, and the GT6 intake guides are common. You would think that they would have them in stock at all times. Kind of like a local parts store being out of small block Chevy oil filters.
Jeff

Thanx fellas i will give moss a call on monday and see whats going on. it has been over a week now. i am not in a bind yet. i did notice that instead of sending me a thrust washer kit , they sent me a con rod guide... i am getting this ready to send out to he machine shop, the block is already there, and i hope to get that back this week.

i thought those exhausts seats looked a little suspicious. i was more worried about the intakes, with all that crud on them.

Doc that would be 7/16-14

Must be an 'oriental' thread pitch gauge. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Mark, I may have a thrust washer set here, too. Since I no longer run the 1500, I've got some excess bits lying about.
I'm almost positive that the AIR ports ar 7/16" x 20.
Jeff

My bad!!! 1/2x13. duh. Didn't CHECK the OD... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/shocked.gif

Nothin' in the drawer between 5/16 and 1/2. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Jeff, i appreciate the offer and will let you know.

thanx again

Doc, ya better stop staring at that little red lite under that mouse

I'm sure you're correct Jeff. If I ~had~ some fine thread stainless grubs in 7/16 they'd a had Mark's name on 'em. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

Mark, I'll do a quick inventory of what I've got left on the shelf for new bits today. I may even have a head, but I think it's probably been shaved to about 13:1 compression.
