Head Gasket ?

Re: Update

The reason I said to "get the entire valve train" is to counter any differences...& I think Naomi & Bill know enough to get a head from a 5-main engine.....early heads can be modified to accept more volume & better use of that volume by a little grinding (heck, most of us probably do that to early heads all the time) where the tip of the "heart" comes together.

Re: Update

Yup. The "squish point". I've profiled my share. I much prefer the older heads.

Re: Update

"squish point"....like that, Doc

Yep, early head w/"squish point' massaged 3/8" & larger valves (like on 'L' head - or bigger)

Re: Update

I believe that's how Vizard referred to it.

Re: Update

But, Naomi doesn't need any of that - unless she gets an early head...then, she'll need to massage the 'squish point' (you know, taken out of context, that could be a pretty dangerous phrase!)

Re: Update

mehheh. "Wanna see my squish point?" -or- "Wouldya look at th' squish points on that one?!?"

argh...

Re: Update

And the answer is, buy the best head gasket you can buy.

Re: Update

I try to stay with Payen or Fel-Pro. I've had that experience.

Re: Update

Fel-Pro for me!

Re: Update

Huh? I don't understand /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: Update

Don't worry - we'll walk you through it if you ever need it....& when Bill sees the underside of an old head, he'll know what we mean & when he shows it to you, you'll hit yourself on the forehead & go "duhhhhhh"...as for the gasket...Fel-Pro is a brand name.

Re: Update

Buy and use a very high quality head gasket.
