Head gasket question?

Morris

Well, that stupid valve stuck again in spite of much improved top end oiling. So, off comes the head.

Can a Payen head gasket be re-used? I know in general, head gaskets can not be reused, but I thought it was worth an ask.

BODGE!!

Replace it, man. Sorry for the nasty "turn of events."

I figured as much. I was hoping maybe there was some kind of magic in Payen gaskets.

If you'd spray it with CopperShield or somesuch it MAY even seal... but it just ain't worth the risk. Too many OTHER things can happen.

Never ever reuse a head gasket. Won't work.

Supose it was time for a valve job and guides in any case Morris. Oh have the head checked for level while at the machine shop.

That's the frustratiting thing Jack. The head is fresh back from the machine shop. New guides and springs. Ground valves/seats, vatted, magnafluxed, decked... the works.

Hmm, bend a valve did we?? Or was the guide not fited properly? Will be intresting to find out.

I bet it galled due to lack-o-lube. That shouldn't be a problem now.

Oh yea, forgot. No lub up there to drip down the valve guides a bit.
