Head differences from 1960 to 1967?

I will be putting my 1967 engine together soon and already have a head rebuilt from the extra engine I acquired. The early engine is about 1960. Is there any differences between the two heads?

Jerry

Hi Jerry, I do not have a firm answer for you. However, you might consider the following. If the head you had refurbished looks just like the one that came on your engine its OK. I am guessing you had one on the car;s engine. Also look at the engine ID plate on the two blocks if the first three characters are the same you are still OK. That's the best I can do for you. Other than some foreign export engines and the two port configuration there does not seem to be any radical changes in engine heads.---Fwiw--Keoke

Well they have the same casting numbers, so I am going to assume that they are similar and give it a try.

The earlier head may have a thermo-well for the electric choke carbs that were briefly used, whereas the later head doesn't. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that combustion chambers, ports and valves are the same for all 6-port heads.

Thermostat is barely visiable in this picture:
