HD8 Idle Adjust Screw

I was trying to adjust my HD8 carbs on my BJ8. One of the fast idle adjustment screws was the wrong size and would not thread down through the plate. The threads were close but not correct. What is the thread count and type of screw needed? Is this a British style screw? I am trying to order from Moss. It is shown as available in the Moss catalog but they show the order as pending. Other sources?
That explains why I was having some of my idle problems when the engine was cold. Carb for cylinders 4-6 is correct.

I'd be on th' blower to Joe Curto.

I think I would go to the company that made the carbs and buy there.
I'm not disagreeing, just that New York is a ~lot~ closer and British Superior buy & supply the genuine SU parts. Shipping cost & time considerations kinda offset BritSuperior's markup. Call them and ask if they have the part in stock first!

Hi Goldie,

I rebuilt our carburetors using the rebuild kit Joe sells; and all the parts were excellent quality and fit well.

My understanding is Joe supplies the SU rebuild parts that are sold by Moss and I would definitely call Joe and discuss this with him. He is a great guy and always happy to help people. He is your best source for SU information IMO.

Regards, Bill

I did contact him and found him to be very responsive and extremely helpful even though I was looking for a very inexpensive part . Turned out Moss had the screw I needed but were very slow posting they were going to ship them. I started searching for alternative source in case they were back ordered. He has lots of small HD8 parts that Moss doesn't carry. I will use him when I need to rebuilt my carbs.
