Hi Guys,
I hope everything is good with all.The other day ,I had to pull apart the carburators on my 65.The reason I did this is cause I couldn't get the idle down below 900 rpm's.Anyway,I found that the adjusting jets were frozen solid in their bushings.Event though they are brass, they were so gummed up,they wouldn't move.I cleaned the parts with carb cleaner and ordered rebuild kits, but I'd like to make them look better before assembly. Can anyone recommend a way of making the aluminum look alittle brighter and a way of polishing the top vacuum chambers? As always, thanks Gang,
Bobby R

Good old fashioned carb cleaner, the type in a gallon can with dip basket works quite well. No plastic, rubber, non-metal parts in the cleaner.

If you try any machine polishing of the chambers be very careful to not drop or dent them. The slighest distortion will cause the piston to bind. Also do not interchange the chambers & pistons. They are factory fitted as an assembly & frequently won't interchange without binding problems.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the advice. It's been so long since I've worked on carbs ,that I wasn't sure if they still sell the old 5 gallon cans of cleaner.I've been real careful not to mix up the parts of theses carbs and the moss parts came in today ,so I think I'm pretty well set.I can't wait to see how they adjust now. Thanks for your help,
Bobby R
