HD8 Carb Banjo Bolts

I have a leak around the rear HD8 carb banjo bolt connection to the fuel bowl on my BJ8. I have ordered new fiber washers. I want to make sure the banjo fitting is installed correctly.

Is the recessed side toward the fuel bowl? That is the way it came apart when I removed it.

Is there a recommended torque?

Yes (that's where the washers go). Soak the washer in a light oil--WD40 works well--for a few minutes to soften it up a little. Torque 'medium;' I use a socket--13/16" works--on a half-inch ratchet and use 'forearm tight' (probably about 20lb-ft). Check after a few hours running as the fiber washers compress a little.

There are a couple types of washers available (whatever the vendor supplies). The OEM/old ones are a reddish-brown, newer ones are black; I prefer the older ones if I can get them.
