When I was in High School (I think a Senior), I rode my Peugeot 12-speed bike down to the local U-tot-em (about 1 mile away) to pick up a couple items for my mother. For some reason, I decided to put my head down and really crank as fast as I could to get there as fast as possible. With my head mostly down, and only looking up every now and then, I managed to not see a 69 Camero that was black and parked on the street right in my path. I didn't even realize what had happened at first when I hit the rear of that car full speed. I went over the handlebars and over the car and landed on my bum if front of the car. I was REALLY lucky I wasn't hurt more seriously (was not wearing a helmet). The one big injury I had was a nice hole in my shin from when my leg hit the small, thin, circular shift lever as I went over the bike. I still have that lovely scar.
Maybe I could recreate the event and post it on TikTokBe glad it wasn't in the days of cell phones, HD video and Youtube. You'd live on forever with those filming laughing...
Thanks for the update! Glad to hear youβre on the mend! Sounds like youβre getting top-notch care!Just wanted to give you all a quick update.. Two weeks after surgery and I am up and walking (or limping) without the walker.. a bit of pain but controllable with simple over the counter pain killers.
I am really impressed both with the hospital which did a good job but the follow up from my HMO has been fantastic. There has been a regular stream of doctor/nurse / Physical therapist (almost every day) / Occupational therapist (3 times a week) even a social worker to make sure all is well coming to visit me at home.
And I hope that this doesn't go over the "political" line... but the doctors / nurses / PT etc.. have been a mixture of Jewish and Arab (Muslim and Christian) working together as a team. Not what usually gets shown on the news.
