Have you guys seen this?

I replaced my crank pulley with an aluminum one....

Anyone else have problems with the rivets starting to come loose on the MGA pulley?

Mine started making TICK-TICK-TICK noises.

(I suppose you could weld it front & back)

I wouldn't expect to feel a difference by the seat of your pants, except perhaps in smoothness if your current pulley is not balanced. They aren't a bad thing, especially if you like the aftermarket / racer look... but I would certainly spend money on things like carbs and ignition first!

Steve: I personally wouldn't expect to "feel" any difference between the stock pulleys and the billet aluminum pulleys. While there IS a significant weight difference, it is nothing compared to a properly lightened fly-wheel. For me, the pulleys would be about dressing up the engine compartment more than anything else.

WTN: The pulleys I linked don't appear to have any rivets. The MGB crank appears to be a single piece milled from a single chunk of aluminum. I dunno anything about MGAs other than I really like how they look. Where'd you source your pulley from? It sounds like information I should keep in mind when I get around to changing out my pulleys.

I got it from that 'P' place that everybody hates.

Although, I think you can get them in a bunch of places.

But, you could have someone weld yours for ten bucks and save 90.

And I've never picked up any chicks w/ my aluminum pulley. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

what, you've never put one on a chain and wore it around your neck and gone out trolling? ;P

So THAT'S what's wrong!!! I been usin' a timing chain an' a cam sprocket!

...I'm sooo retro. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

I'm still wearing my Mercedes hub cap I got in the 80's. Guess I should update my bling. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I hear Toyota wheel-center badges are the 'new' bling, Steve. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Pat Boone did that first.

I'll go with shorts, a T-shirt an' some Sperry flip-flops instead. "bling" to consist of a bottle of tequila and some salt...
