Have Mercy! Canister oil filter

RonMacPherson said:
Okay Cuz,

Three things(If I can remember them all before I quit this post).
1. Have you talked to the autoist, Tony, about getting the stuff shipped to you?

Yup, Tony is an honest man. I now purchase all my parts and bits from Tony.
2. Did you get the NGK spark plug design, construction and etc. that I sent you? If not search for spark plug design and NGK should pop up. They break down spark plug design and construction that is easily understood.

Yup, got it but it would not open. Friday I'll have some time to look for it.

3. Have you measured vacuum at your tubing to the distributor? From what I read it said that you are obtaining NO vacuum there..

I'm fairly certain my dizzy is working just fine. My timing
advances spot on thru the RPMs up to 4000.

That should keep you busy until you can get the boat back out on the water...

Bluuf! I'm on the 'puter all day today doing legal beagle prelims.
Taking off at sunrise tomorrow for some tarpon and snook fishing.

later cuz,

thanks for the help.

Yeah, I guess you're right. A guy would have to be crazy to leave a place like that. Are those Tarpon good eatin ?

Dale: Are you kidding? Who told you that? Was it the guy who is charging you $85 for an oil change. In my opinion, the spin-on adapter is one of the very best modifications I've made to the 250. You should seriously consider it. Avoiding a few of those oil changes would pay for it.

Back on topic Frank-

I think I've read mostly bad press about those adapters
being poorly made, difficult to install, parts don't
match up correctly and then they leak.

Think about it. $85 per oil change every 3,000 miles.
Based upon past performance over three years of data-
that would put my next oil change in year 2011.

Besides I would not purchase an item from a dishonest
company that grossly profiteers off me with their postage
fees. I don't knowingly do business with crooks. Never have,
never will. Tony the Autoist ain't no crook.

There is every reason to believe I'll be torched
and cast upon a coral reef before my next oil change
in 2011!!! je,je,je

Real sorry to hear about your stuck engine.

Okay you Puerto Rican immigrant you..

Do you honestly believe that if you purchase and install a modern, properly made oil filter adapter that it will cause you problems??

So, the only exposure you've gotten was people with problems. That's to be expected. The few people, Capitalize and underline FEW. who have had a problem get on the web and ask about problem resolution.

I know of NO ONE who has taken an adapter off a car and gone back to cartridge element. I'm sure there are a couple as early production and cheap imitations did experience a few fitment problems...
BUT, and this is a BIG BUT, everyone that I know of who has installed an adapter that has encountered a problem has corrected the problem fairly easily..... I installed my first adapter in about 87. Would not have a 6 without putting one one. ...

So what you can do is start a survey and see who has encountered problems, who corrected them, who would NOT recommend an adapter?
