So I've been slowly modifying my TR6 over the summer to make it stop and turn better. It goes in tomorrow for the engine to be fixed up so next year it will go better too. I'll be without it for a couple of months, and of course I'm having one of those last minute "what else have I forgotten" attacks.
I'm pretty set on what I want for the engine so there's no need to obsess there. I'm having it rebuilt with the aim of adding a supercharger next year and the pieces have been selected accordingly.
This is what else I've done so far this summer:
Nyaltron bushings front and back.
Uprated & lowered springs.
Uprated front swaybar, added rear swaybar.
Adjustable trailing arm brackets.
Toyota 4-pot conversion for front brakes with drilled/slotted rotors.
Morgan cylinders on rear. New shoes, new adjusters.
One new front hub (one of the disk mounting bolts was stripped so I had to get a new hub).
New wheels and tires.
Pertronix and new coil.
Headers.
SS exhaust.
I have solid rack mounts but didn't get round to fitting them.
In addition to the engine work I'm having the diff mounts boxed so I can have the R200 LSD sitting in the trunk installed, as well as the clunking halfshaft u-joints replaced (I figured since he has the diff out to box it I might as well have the mechanic do the work).
I'm also thinking about the HVDA 5-speed conversion. A rebuilt (1yr warranty) W58 and Hermann's parts priced out at $2300 - the same as a new box and o/d (I have a 4-sp right now). I spoke to Hermann yesterday and he sure seems to know his stuff. A lot more than I do, that's for sure...
I don't think the other choice - the Ford type-9 is going to be up to the job. Again, it saves me the cost of a new clutch, and the engine is out so depending on the price from the mechanic I may get it done at the same time, or it will be a job for me next year.
Also I need 1 rebuilt rear hub that I still have to order (oops - nearly forgot).
Ok so that's a fair laundry list. I spent way too much money this summer already I know, and I didn't get round to the interior yet.
What did I forget - it's bugging me that I must be missing something - and it's even worse the thought that I won't have it for so long...
