Have I forgotten anything stupid?

So I've been slowly modifying my TR6 over the summer to make it stop and turn better. It goes in tomorrow for the engine to be fixed up so next year it will go better too. I'll be without it for a couple of months, and of course I'm having one of those last minute "what else have I forgotten" attacks.

I'm pretty set on what I want for the engine so there's no need to obsess there. I'm having it rebuilt with the aim of adding a supercharger next year and the pieces have been selected accordingly.

This is what else I've done so far this summer:

Nyaltron bushings front and back.
Uprated & lowered springs.
Uprated front swaybar, added rear swaybar.
Adjustable trailing arm brackets.
Toyota 4-pot conversion for front brakes with drilled/slotted rotors.
Morgan cylinders on rear. New shoes, new adjusters.
One new front hub (one of the disk mounting bolts was stripped so I had to get a new hub).
New wheels and tires.
Pertronix and new coil.
Headers.
SS exhaust.

I have solid rack mounts but didn't get round to fitting them.

In addition to the engine work I'm having the diff mounts boxed so I can have the R200 LSD sitting in the trunk installed, as well as the clunking halfshaft u-joints replaced (I figured since he has the diff out to box it I might as well have the mechanic do the work).

I'm also thinking about the HVDA 5-speed conversion. A rebuilt (1yr warranty) W58 and Hermann's parts priced out at $2300 - the same as a new box and o/d (I have a 4-sp right now). I spoke to Hermann yesterday and he sure seems to know his stuff. A lot more than I do, that's for sure...
I don't think the other choice - the Ford type-9 is going to be up to the job. Again, it saves me the cost of a new clutch, and the engine is out so depending on the price from the mechanic I may get it done at the same time, or it will be a job for me next year.

Also I need 1 rebuilt rear hub that I still have to order (oops - nearly forgot).

Ok so that's a fair laundry list. I spent way too much money this summer already I know, and I didn't get round to the interior yet.

What did I forget - it's bugging me that I must be missing something - and it's even worse the thought that I won't have it for so long...

You forgot to talk to Herman about your hub, he does those too! He also designed the tube shock conversion that sells on blindmoosefab.com...you're right, great guy!

Just to put my 2 cents in, I really like my HVDA 5-speed conversion.

I think since your spending all this money you should do one more thing to make it all work together well and get the maximum benefit from all the upgrades...an alignment.

Not necessarily to stock specs, you might want a touch of negative camber on the front to improve the way the car turns in to corners, not too much or you will shorten the tyre life. Also make sure the toe-in is adjusted.
These details will make a surprising difference.
Simon.

Hey Alana,
I know what you forgot----How the heck are you going to pay for all that!!!!!!!
Sounds like the finished product will be a blast to drive.

It went in this morning and I'm already missing it. Driving up I-95 this morning was actually fun for once.

I'm gonna be depressed for the next two months...

Yeah, but think how elated you'll be when it comes back!

We'll see.

I'm sitting here right now wishing I had the space (and neighborhood association) so I could do the engine myself.

It was the saddest sight in the world coming home to that empty garage bay tonight. Even my wife (who hates the fact that it leaks oil everywhere, and that it 'smells' when it's running) said that it looked strange in there now.

She's still not thrilled with the idea of me getting a replacement for a while though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cryin.gif...

A Monza exhaust will make that car go a lot faster! Just kidding, Alan. It sounds like you've got the bases pretty well covered. I might consider the Crane XR700/3000 instead of the pertronix. The 3000 unit can utilize a Crane 100 milliamp coil. Crane claims better spark, increased dwell, etc. with this setup. Also, the Crane box has a little blinky light on it that indicates whether it is working properly. VB sells the Crane stuff. Also, maybe consider ditching the original fan and going with an electric one. This frees up some parasitic loss. An oil cooler is not a bad idea either. That's about all the suggestions I've got. You'll have a good runner when it's all done.

I'm looking at EFI right now, which is why I hadn't specced any kind of ignition upgrades. I'm talking via email to a chap who has a complete PI setup (including the camshaft) for a TR6 for sale. I'm hoping I can use the throttle bodies and maybe the plenum and get some fab work done to mate everything up with the s/c. I'd seen the pics on Lee Janssens site and really like the way the Triumph plenum looks in there.

I'll know better when I see pics of what he has.

I'm probably going to buy it anyway. If all else fails I'm sure I can ebay it.

I saw it. I want to supercharge first and then EFI after so this won't fit. Plus can you imagine keeping 6 carbs tuned.

I can barely do 2 - which is why I want a computer to do the work...

Instead of going with PI stuff then you should look into a throttle body set up from TWM, or make your own out of another carb. Use one throttle body in place of the carb feeding into the s/c.
Unless your planning on using a different type of s/c than what has been done and pressurizing the intake side of the PI plenum. I belive that Lee is using a turbo and doesn't need to worry about getting it in position for a belt drive and fighting for that space.

On the 6-pack list there is a guy that showed photos of a mock up s/c set up on the drivers side of the engine. Relocated alternator, clearance was close with the dist. etc... but it all looked to fit. There was another gent on that list with a full PRI set up and pretty built engine. Haven't heard from them in a while though.

The s/c setup I'm looking at keeps the stock carb layout so it's less of an issue.

I looked at the TWM FI setup for the TR6. It's in another thread here. They want $4200 and you can't pressurize the airbox. Out next year.

I saw the pics of Rick Patten's s/c setup and thought that similar, but with some use of the original parts would be cool. The "Triumph" plenum and the ready made bolt on connections to the intakes on the head were the big attraction. It would still require some fab work to connect the two though.
