Spitfire Has anyone fit a 2500 wiper motor to a spit mk1?

I read that the spitfire mk1 had a single speed wiper motor and that it could have a twin speed from later models.

Has anyone managed to fit a 2500 saloon wiper motor to a mk1 spitfire? I've got one downstairs and thought it might be a cheap upgrade.

I was wondering if all triumph wiper motors turned throught the same angle and back or whether some of them had a greater sweep.

Hello Glen,
I would guess that the MK 1 Spitfire and the MK 1 Triumph 2000 used a similar motor. I fitted a MK 2 motor to my MK 1 2000. I had to use the MK 2 rack gland as it is a different shape to the MK 1.
Also the MK 2 motor connects via a moulded plug so you will really need that bit of a MK 2 loom and also the MK 2 wiper switch.

good luck,

Alec

Yep - good note about the plug wiring.

I'm going to hand build a new wiring loom for the project car and include a few spare wires in there for bits that I may add later on.

The question about the degrees of rotation of the various triumph wiper motors still exists. Anyone....???

Hello Glen,

The 2000 angle of sweep from my manual is 110 degrees, I guess you could measure your Spifire if you don't have the data.
