Has anyone ever heard this tip? "Weeping" head

I was concerned I had a cracked head when a friend sent me a link to the following tip: "The rule is, all rebuilt B series engines weep between the block and head, between the 2nd and 3rd spark plug...To remedy this problem..." (techtips, about 3/4 down)

I hadn't heard or read anything about this, but the problem described is precisely what my (P.O.) rebuilt motor has been doing. Anyone else experience this?

Yes...that tip has been around for some time now...courtesy of Twisty.

I rebuilt the engine of my 1978 MGB in 1992...and did this as a prophylatic measure...worked fine.

I'm not one to second guess John Twist, but my B doesn't leak there; I rebult the engine 10 years ago. Both the block and the head were resurfaced. No leaks, no weeping, nada.

I didn't click the link, but I suspect this is the wire strand in the silicone trick? He mentions it in his Technical Book, which is a great reference, BTW.

Read it before - think its a DPO bandaid no matter how much of an "expert" the mechanic is! In all the cars I've owned, I've never aken one apart that had that mod!

Re-torque to spec (~50 lbs) - that may be all that's needed.

HI JW, Have you heard about this product "K Seal" that is being touted by users in the UK as an absolute solution for this type problem it is being showcased on UK E-Bay and it is a bit pricey.---Keoke

Wray - That garage would work on your lot - stuck on the end of you present garage or behind house!

Tony, not enough room behind the house. I hope to put up a 24x40 behind the shop. Depends on the Town and how good my creds are with them at this point in time.

I hope to be able to get 3 cars in and have some room to work on them.
