Hardtop Rubber

Does anyone know of a source for the large rear seal that goes between a hartop and sits on the car's body? Moss, VB, AH Spares, and MacGregor don't seem to carry this.

Would a couple of header rail seals work instead? They seem to be large enough, as long as they don't compress too much and allow the top to rub on the paint.

Thanks
Jeff

JC Whitney sells a lot of rubber seals, trouble is it's usually pretty hard to tell from looking of what they are selling will work for you.

Pep Boys also now has a fair selection of stick on weather stripping. It's on the floor in yellow bags IIRC. I need to get some for mine. $29 for 10 or 15ft IIRC

Isn't this the one for which you seek? https://www.macgregorukcarparts.com/Merch...=Sprite-mk1-top

He also has others listed on the previous page. Bear in mind that you must call him for the lastest prices.

Jeff - I'd call him anyway. His website is very out of date. Could be the reason he has no price is because he hadn't yet determined the price when the site went public. Even if he doesn't have the item you're looking for, he may be able to direct you to someone who has it. He can be very helpful. It's worth a call IMHO.

Ask if it's a factory replacement or genteric bulk too. ( which I suspect)

I'm working on a bug eye hardtop right now and even though the original seals are in pretty bad shape I'm afraid to remove them for fear I wont't be able to get anything back that even resembles original. They won't stand up to being removed and put back on. Any one done a BE hard top recently and been happy with replacement rubber???? Don't trust reassurances of suppliers!

Kurt.

Jeff,

If you’re looking for something generic that will work you might try Westco Autobody. They used to carry a good selection of rubber body seal material so you may find something that would work. They have stores all over the area so I bet there is one close to you.

Rich,
Thanks for the link. The place in Auburn is 10 minutes from my house. I will check with them and see what I can find.
