Hardtop Carrier Update

I had to make an adjustment to the carrier so that someone else doesn't make the same mistake that I did where the top rests. Fortunately an easily fixable issue for the rack, but not so easy for the two little marks on the top.

This is the needed correction, if you followed MY pictures and added extra panels to Shawn's original design, (which is fine without them), as long as the side rails are stable and secured well.

As long as the outer panels shown on mine, are mounted on the INSIDE instead, all is well. The pictures at the beginning and end clearly show what to do. Or in this case, not to do....Dumb, dumb, dumb on my part!!

See what happens when you color outside the lines I provided... :jester:

Seriously, sorry you had to get marks on your tops new paint in order to discover the mistake. Hope they can buff out or something.

Re: Hardtop Carrier Update

That's what I get for "thinking out of the box".

My concept was good. Execution was fine, desired result due to my poor engineering was less than satisfactory.

I discovered the issue at the body shop when we took it off of the stand to put into the truck to bring it home for a few weeks until the headliner arrives. Allan said no big deal, he can fix it after the headliner and all of the glass is installed, to make sure there are no other marks.
