Had a hardtop for the last car I restored for a client a 1967 MGB convertible sitting around the shop. It had what looked to be really bad spider cracks that mimicked old laquer cracking . After sanding into the paint and beyond I discovered they were into the Gel coat. The only way to remove these is to sand off the cracking Gel coat and recoat with gel coat. This is a very big job to remove . So beware if you are looking to buy a hardtop that seems to have surface cracking it may go way beyond the paint into the gel coat etc. A rule of thumb for glass is the more cracks the more expensive it will be to properly repair the part.
