Hard Top?

I have had this top for awhile now. It came in the "parts bugeye" that I got a few years back. Anyone know what it is or what it is off of? I assume that it goes on a bugeye because it was in the one I bought. I have never tried to fit it or anything. 4 pictures total.

Definately not a Bugeye. Note the shape of the side. Bugeyes have a forward slope for the side curtain.

Aftermarket - but ti doesn't seem to have the hardware necessary to fit a MkI Midget windshield frame.

Wave, not a Bugeye. No way that would fit the rear contour.

I am going to say that it is for a wind-up window car since I don't see any place for the external clips up front for the windshield.

it dose not match my early 70 factory top
it looks like a an after market one I saw up in NH on a late seventys

I wonder why it was laying in the car. Probably something the PO found and thought he could make FIT!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I have to tell you.....it looks very much like the hardtop on my 1971 Fiat 850 Spider! Maybe the P.O. did just find something "close enough" and made it work?

I'll post pics of my Fiat hard top as soon as I can so you can compare.

Hmmmm....the more I look at it, the more I'm convinced it isn't from an 850 Spider. Yours looks like it's flat at the point where it contacts the rear deck/boot area whereas mine has a curve......very similar though!

No, its an aftermarket Carriage House hardtop but I think its for the mid-year Midgets, not the MkI.

It is a Royal Coachman hard top, I have a NOS one on my Alpine. They were made in the US and are of very good quality. Mine is more deluxe than the one you have, it has opening side windows and even a dome light on each site that it operatored by a switch on the front.

Mine has a serial number stick on the inside and the same badges on the outside as yours. Being plastic these tops are light and can easily be put on and taken off by one person unlike the factory hard tops.

That's t - thanks! Knew Cinderella's carriage was their trademark but couldn't remember the name...if anybody has a mid-Midget: is your door to body line straight or urved like that hardtop?

I have a 66 Midget and 69 Sprite but I don't understand what you mean by curved, that hard top looks like it would fit my cars.

Yep - the mid-year cars had a different line than the later ones.....thought it'd fit a '66

I like the dome light! Ill have to rig something like that.
