Hard line from clutch MC to slave?

Hi guys - could I use a hard line from the clutch MC to the clutch slave?

I have someone here tonight making brake lines for the MGC and he could knock out a hard line for this as well. Does it flex enough to require a flexible hose?

Good idea, or yet another example of "what where you thinking Tom"?

Somewhere there needs to be a soft line IMHO

You NEED the flex line to be umm... flexible, due to the engine/trans movement.

An interesting question...especially considering that the "SC" cars (Herald, Spitfire, etc.) used a hard line from clutch master to slave, but said line usually had about 2.5 loops in it as it made the turn from the firewall down (or over, depending on model) to the slave cylinder. Seems to work well on those cars!

I saw a guy try this as an experiment about two years ago. He felt it was a better idea than the plastic line for his "spirited" driving style. It lasted about six months and then the line cracked on a cold rainy autumn day. He had AAA and they sent a flat bed, so the fix would have been painless, if the brake fluid hadn't sprayed all over his freshly painted engine and firewall.

Cracked lines can act as pressure washers if the split or hole is just right when you push down on the pedal a few times trying to get into a gear you can get home in.

That's when the really interesting four letter words came out. I didn't even have the heart to say I told you so, but it was written on my face as I drove away.
