With the economy, businesses are looking for ways to cut back.

Some are taking the approach this one did. Looks like Andre's getting a pink slip...

Except for the long sleeves, looks like our Hawaii state highway repair department.

Standing joke out here:

What's white, has seals on the side and sleeps three?

State highway workers truck. one on the ground working, three inside sleeping...

That's not right, not right, AT ALL...

Here, they just dig a hole, put up a few dozens orange cones around it, and leave...

for two, or three months.... :jester:

Just a hole??? The city is building a light train running from the north /south and making a detour east / west while they are at it. We now have a 30Km long hole with a huge bridge going nowhere in the middle. The latest optimistic prediction is that it MIGHT be running by 2011. Nice bridge though! I can see the top half of it from my apartment.

That would be funny if it weren't true!! My husbands company recently promoted a fellow into a position where he sits around looking into ways to save the company money (at 6 figures btw) What did they come up with...to lay off all of their install guys (who make about 1/5 what these guys do)...Hmm, "Looks like Andre is about to be out of a job!"

As is usually the case, the managers cut the staff in order to save their little niches. I could elaborate, but we can't have one of Basil's moderators breaking his rules, now can we?

Milwaukee has much in common with Jerusalem. We too have a bridge that goes nowhere, only ours has been there going nowhere for decades now! (The project was scrapped after the bridge had been built).

We also have a Calatrava!
