Harbor Freight jack stand recall

I have never felt comfortable using stands held up only with a pawl--the ones I use have a pin through them secured with cotter key

Good info for the forum--Steve

I have Shop-Craft and MVP/pro-lift 2-ton stands. Have been using them for years without any slippage or other problems.

Found no indication online of any recalls for any stands other than the HFs.

The convenient pawl design must not have a design flaw - hopefully.

The article I read said the problem was the tooling to make the stands was so old, the tolerances were too loose to be reliable.

John - good to know, as there are eleventy-zillion pawl stands out there. Maybe they're all made by the same PRC outfit and that's why the tooling is worn out.
