Hap's engine build log

Most of you will remember that Hap Waldrop (ACME Speed Shop) built a 1275cc for me this winter that will find a new home in the "Spridget Project". Throughout the build Hap recorded many details in the form of emails and forum posts. I endeavored to capture as much of this information, in the form of a 'log', for my own reference and thought that perhaps some of the visitors to my web site (www.raysmg.com) and forum members would also like to have easy access to the information.

Today I published an "Engine Build" page to my web site with links to the log pages. You might want to take a look and maybe bookmark it for reference. The direct link to the engine build page is:

https://www.raysmg.com/rays_mg_midget_62_sprite_engine.htm

There are several associated pages and a LOT of photos so the possibility exists that something may not work correctly or be clear. If you run across a problem please EMAIL me at ray@raysmg.com rather than communicating it via the forum.

NOTE - I did not alter Hap's information in any way other than editing for spelling and punctuation. Hap has not had the opportunity to review the information in it's entirety.

This is info that I will go back to time and again...I hope you find it as useful as I do. I'd like to thank Hap for his blessings in presenting it.

Ray

Ray Thanks for sharing your engine build process with us all I hope to someday have Hap build me the engine of my dreams (about as close to yours as possible) if you don't mind me asking what was the total finish cost if you don't want to give out the cost I understand if a PM is better way than posting it thanks and thanks to Hap also I can't wait to hear how it runs if you had to do it over any changes Hap this is for you too Thanks Mark

Nice work putting that log together, Ray. I'm sure you're as excited about your motor as I am about mine! I really hope to get a chance to see your car one of these days -- it would be great to have them together some day.

Gearhead -- you definitely want one of these motors. I'm already satisfied with mine and it's not even in the car yet!

Thanks for all the great info and pics. I am early in the process of my 948cc rebuild, will be equipped with a Folchi supercharger, Hap Waldrop ported head, and bits from Anton including the right cam, lifters etc. WIll try and document it to the same degree... some great stuff here. Thanks again

Thanks guys for the kind words, those pictures reminded me of how I need to wear a hat more often
