October 14 - to our northern neighbors - who will probably recognize these:

Thanks! We had supper at my brother's house yesterday. A much smaller gathering this year as a slightly complicated plan collapsed too late for everyone to get together. We are also just entering the age where the next generation (our kids) are also obliged to the inlaws and other activities. My niece is teaching scuba diving in Costa Rica (stepped on a stingray yesterday - yikes!) My son is in Vegas for a music festival of bands I have never heard of. My nephew is planting trees in British Columbia while waiting for ski season to start. No grandkids for Mrs JP and I or my siblings or even my nearby cousins (overall a very good thing.) Oh and my mother (93 - pic below) was at my sister's last minute. My sister and her husband went to the boat for the weekend but it turned cold so they came home. Did you follow that?

But a lovely - chilly day. Happy Thanksgiving to others as well!

Oh and Tom, I recognize them but have literally never seen them looking like that. More often like this:

Raisins or no raisins? Talk amongst yourselves! :D

No raisins. sheesh. actually raisins are OK - it's walnuts and various other adulterations that are the true abomination. :D

(Wait'll you find out what mincemeat originally was ...)

Mutton or beef, supposedly. I like mince meat pie, the wife makes single servings also with left over fixings. (y)

My paternal grandmother made really great mincemeat, used to love it when I was a kid. But she refused to share the recipe so it went with her when she died, she didn't care for my mother.

But the big question for Thanksgiving, would you drop turkeys from a helicopter on a mall??....
