Happy Thanksgiving guys. Never had the pleasure of being in Canada but its high on my list of things to do next year. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

And when you get there you'll like what you see. From BC to Prince Edward Island it is spectacular. I rode the train from Vancouver to Toronto,an experience I wouldn't mind repeating one day.

Okay, I'll bite - why this weekend?

happy thanks giving to all our cand. friends! do you folks do the "turkey" thing too? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

Happy Thanksgiving to our Northern neighbors! Keep those sticks on the ice!

Ok Tony the reason really is because if we had it the same weekend as you guys we wouldn't feel like turkey again at christmas. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

My calendar shows Canadian Thanksgiving on the 9th (monday), along with Columbus Day - I'll bet there's a "whites sale" somewhere this weekend. - hehehehehehe.

We do turkey at Thanksgiving, and ham at Christmas. I talked to a guy a couple months ago whose famaliy does grilled steaks at christmas - sounded good to me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Something to do with the harvest.

I suspect it derives from English Harvest Celebrations that happen in the Autumn, they're still informal with no specific dates here and various churches hold them at odd times over in the coming months.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I've got slightly different views on just how "spectacular" Canada is....Sure there is some great scenery, but I am more and more leaning towards moving south as soon as retirement comes around /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif

It's gunna be turkey here too, made it a four day weekend by taking today(friday) off as well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Why wait that long?

The start of winter could be soon enough for some people..... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

I only wish it was possible....Actually I work for ESSO and I am the head of the only department(facilities management) not yet taken over by EXXON...BUT the Yanks are coming up this week for some reason, and I am hoping it is to take over...Then getting a transfer south would be easy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

On another note I am enjoying the long weekend, weather has been great, finished winterizing the yard, winterized the caddy, cleaned up the truck, replaced the heater valve in the MGA...and now that all thats done tomorrow is going to involve a nice long cruise in the MG's /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
