Yeah, Basil probably had 'er up and running on the 26th or so, but the 28th looks like the day crazy folk like us joined up. Happy birthday BCF! Thanks Basil.

Actually BCF "officially" went online on Christmas day, 25 Dec 00, but we had a bit of a false start and have to re-install things a couple days later. I think the first actual no-kidding member was berniewest from UK whom I think saw a post I had made about the forum in one of the British car .alt discussion groups. He joined on 28 Dec (so for three days it was a very lonely place). I recall it took better than a year to get the first 500 members.
 
hmmm... I can't figure why it took me so long to find BCF. If you were posting to usenet I should have seen it... 'course I was of the "HTML is for wussies" crowd. And the only .alt "car" group I regularly read was an Alfa group. Moderated by an Englishman friend: catman.

I remember the days of British Car Mag when I was getting free advertising in exchange for me running a special forum for them here. Those ads really managed to pull in quite a few new members!

I miss that magazine! Actually, Hemmings with their Exotic and Sportscar magazine have effectively filled the void. The mag is run by enthusiasts and gearheads, with a strong bias towards British machinery. It's what "British Car" should have evolved into, instead of being taken in a different direction as actually happened. My two cent's worth, I have no connection with the magazine other than being a subscriber.
