Boston's Fenway Park! First century completed.

One hundred years ago, at just-completed Fenway Park, the Red Sox played their first official game, against the New York Highlanders. The club went on to win 105 regular season games, the American League Pennant and the World Series.

Opening day, Fenway Park, 1912.

By the way, when you go there, you really DO feel like everyone knows your name. The city has grown up around it, but you're in basically the same facilities that opened in 1912, with thousands of happy people sharing nostalgia so thick you can feel it.

From today's game, played in (mostly) 1912 style uniforms.

I have fond memories of hot dogs and cheap bleacher seats. Not true today - hot dogs cost way too much and there are no cheap seats. I know, I know - that was yesterday and this is today. Anyway Happy Birthday Fenway.
