Hand brake rod, twisted?

I'm putting the handbrake assembly on the car for the first time. (59 B.E. with later rear brakes)

Everything was going together great until I tried to put right side pull rod on. It looks to me like the rod is twisted 90 degrees but it doesn't show any signs of being molested during its time in a box in storage.

I don't know if these are the correct 59 parts or if they are from a parts Midget that passed through the shop years ago. The left side is fine and every picture I can find its hard to tell just how the clevis ends are lined up on each end.

Am I missing a small adjusting piece that nobody lists or did my part get twisted and then straightened some time ago? The material doesn't seem like it will take to kindly to twisting.

Trevor, Awesome info in that link! Exactly what I was scratching my noggin over. I'm glad I don't need to heat and twist or something like that because I already powder coated everything.
