Re: Hamburg, PA - Jim Thorpe Classic Run III - 9/1

Well, unfortunately I'm going to have to postpone this run until next Saturday, 9/20. The forecast is just too iffy for this weekend.

If you are signed up, but can not attend on the rain date, please let me know and I'll get your registration fee back to you.

I'll be sending emails out to everyone who is registered, for those who don't get on here frequently...

Hope to see you on the 20th!

Re: Hamburg, PA - Jim Thorpe Classic Run III - 9/1

Unfortunately, next Saturday (9/20) is the Keystone MG Club Picnic and Fun Run at my place, so I'll have to miss the Jim Thorpe Classic Run this year.

No need to refund my registration, please. Maybe give me credit towards next year? That would be great.

Bummer. Have a great run next weekend...I hope we BOTH get good weather!

Marty

P.S. Didn't get an e-mal from you, but you probably have my old address. I'll PM you my new one.

Re: Hamburg, PA - Jim Thorpe Classic Run III - 9/1

Sorry to hear that Marty. I guess I'll probably be losing all the other MG's as well... :cryin:

Consider yourself credited for next year's run. And you'll just have to wait another year to see the little surprise I had in store for you.

Re: Hamburg, PA - Jim Thorpe Classic Run III - 9/1

Oh, now I'm REALLY bummed. :wall:

Next year, I'll try to coordinate dates wih you so that we don't conflict on the raindate again.

Regards,
Marty

Re: Hamburg, PA - Jim Thorpe Classic Run III - 9/1

Robyn- our thanks for providing the impetus for a trip to Mauch Chunk. We had a FANTASTIC time, weather cooperated (we took the Civic for the a/c), didn't leave until 4:30p today. I'll post some pics when I get them downloaded. I can't say too much about how neat the town, the scenery, the roads, the food, and the people are. We'll be on the tour with you next year as long as you don't conflict with Stowe. And I expect we'll go back before that to see some of the things we missed. Stayed at the Hillcrest B&B; he gave his powder blue TR-3 to his son in FL this summer.

Re: Hamburg, PA - Jim Thorpe Classic Run III - 9/1

Dale, I'm glad you had a great time (and the A/C was definitely NEEDED this weekend). Look forward to seeing you on the run next year.

Looks like this year's run will be a more "intimate" affair. Because of the rain date's conflict with the MG club's picnic, we're down to 8 cars. With the loss of so many of the Brits, the Swedes will maintain their dominance in the run again this year.

Re: Hamburg, PA - Jim Thorpe Classic Run III - 9/1

Well, the weather on Saturday was absolutely beautiful, so despite losing so many cars to schedule conflicts, I think it was still worth postponing the run a week.

Since Marty didn't make it this year, there probably won't be a really cool write-up about the run, but there are some pictures, courtesy of Bill, the lone classic Mini owner on the run. Here's the group at our stop atop Flagstaff Mountain, for the beautiful overlook of Jim Thorpe:

The rest of Bill's pictures can be viewed HERE.

Hope to see everyone at next year's 4th Jim Thorpe Classic Run.

Re: Hamburg, PA - Jim Thorpe Classic Run III - 9/1

Robyn,
I am so glad that the weather cooperated for you this past weekend. I made it home last week but did not even get to drive Fagin until yesterday. Keep us in mind for next year as I doubt we will be in Alaska on the selected date in '09. I will look for you in the area. Let me know if you are coming to America on Wheels and I will be glad to meet you there for a tour. Fagin was there yesterday for a meeting of the board of the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce...

I get:
"We're sorry, your session has timed out. To return to this shared album, please click on the 'View album' link in the invitation email."

Re: Hamburg, PA - Jim Thorpe Classic Run III - 9/1

No, the TR3 was having some running issues and had let out a huge, flame-throwing backfire before our little stop atop Flagstaff, so everyone was poking around.

Re: Hamburg, PA - Jim Thorpe Classic Run III - 9/1

Diagnosed a problem, although not sure if it was the problem. Check valve in the fuel pump is not working, so my guess is too much gas running thru the carbs while coasting down long hills caused the fireworks.

Super run, once again! Hope to see the Brits out in full force next year.

I'm still bummed that we missed it. Glad you had great weather. We'll work closer together next year to avoid raindate conflicts.

See my blog for a desciption and pics of where the Brits were on 9/20!
