Halgeon Lite Bulbs

Has anyone used the halgeon lightbulbs available from Jeff Zorn at the Little British Car company in their dash gauges and taillights?

I use them in my tail/stop lamps. Definately brighter. One burned out after less than a year, so now I have one brighter than the other. Recently I found that the local Autozone sells an 1157 replacment multi-LED bulb for $16.95. Sorta wished I waited. I think I will swap over next season.

Hmmm I will have to look into that 1157 bulb. Definetly cheaper than the ones from Little British Car company when you add in the shipping and handling costs.

Hi Jerry,
The multi LED lights are not very good for the tail light application. LED bulbs are directional in so much as all of the emitters face away from the base. This leads to a concentrated light source which will not bounce off the reflectors creating dark areas when the tail light is not viewed from directly behind.
I have tried these lights and actually found them to appear darker than the standard incandescent lights.
Not worth the expense IMHO.

I tried the multi LED lights and RomanH is correct. I put the LED's in the car, closed the garage door, turned off the lights to see what they looked like. Then Promptly put the old 1157's back in place. The old 1157's were actually brighter then the LED's.

Same story here as Tom and Roman, in both car and motorcycles. Very bright if you happen to be directly in line with the bulb; otherwise much less so than incandescent.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Guess I wont be switching after all.
