After paying too much money for insurance for my CGT, I called Hagertys and got a quote. was really suprised. Called a few pals that have it...so I insured my C for 15k...lots of coverage. Plus if it needs towing they use rollbacks or flatbeds, never a wrecker. Less than $200 a year. I paid almost twice that just for liability. Anyone use them here??

I've been happy with them so far, have their coverage on the MGB and Bugeye. Quite a few folks here use them. Not had any claims yet, but they've been great to deal with on other issues.

Been using them for the last 5 years and they have been great

I've made one claim for a broken windshield and they paid not only for the glass and seals but the cost of labor even though I told them I was going to do it myself.

The one time I had to have the car towed they were very quick and sent a flatbed to get me the 45 miles home at no cost.

Right now I'm paying a hair over 300 a year for 15k in coverage with high limits.

What is the typical yearly mileage limit for your coverage? (mine's 2000 miles, but not with Hagerty)

 I've had them for over 8 years now and have never had a problem. The first time Agatha chose not to run, I was stuck on Old Route 66 in NM and when I called them I was so upset I neglected to tell them that Agatha's clearances was just about 4" and that she could only be towed on a flatbed and needed extensions. Not only were they there in about a half hour, they had a flatbed and extensions and the driver said I know where you live. Get in. Turns out he plows snow in our area and saw me drive Agatha into our road and has seen me driving in the area. Just plain too cool. Good choice on your part.

There are no fixed mileage limits. I signed up with them a couple of months ago when I finally decided my car was worth getting classic car insurance instead of regular coverage. They ask for an estimated mileage, but, as they say, there is no fixed limit.

They don't cover cars while racing, but one forum member had his car in the pits with the hood open. The wind blew the hood off or over the windhield, and because he wasn't actually racing, they covered it.

No mileage limit, but must have 1 modern car for each licensed driver and car must be kept in a locked garage.

Glad to hear...they also offered to cover the A coupe while being restored..anything happens and its covered. $66 dollars a year for 15k coverage. Then when completed converts to a driver policy...

I use Hagerty and find them very nice to deal with. They bought me a new Triplex windshield and because I told them no one but me works on the car, they even paid me the going rate after checking with a glass shop, to install it! Can't beat that with a stick! I used Taylor years ago, but it's Hagerty from now on. PJ

Last week, I compared Hagerty and Grundy....and went with Grundy.

I insured my two MGCs and my MGB/GT V8 conversion at Agreed Values for $353/year through Grundy. Hagerty came in at over $600.

Hagerty had mileage restrictions; Grundy did not.

All other aspects of the policies were identical.

Brings to mind the normal caveat about insurance -- your mileage may vary. Location makes a big difference, and makes me glad there are options for comparison. I've heard good things about Grundy as well, next time I'm due to renew I'll have to do some comparison shopping.

I have 2 cars insured with Hagerty but no claims yet. Initially Hagerty and Grundy prices were about the same but then Grundy wanted to insure both my cars as "customized." The customizations were disk brakes on the Beetly and hydraulic instead of mechanical brakes on the Prefect. As customized, their rates doubles. Hagerty accepted both as unmodified.

Both of my MGCs are stock...my MGB/GT is "modified".

Both companies knew this in advance of receiving quotes/offers.

You would do well to shop around for classic car insurance. One company may be the cheapest in one area but not in another. Ask a LOT of questions about how you can use the car. I've been with Grundy now for several years. My second choice would have been Haggerty but they were slightly more restrictive and a little more expensive on my cars.
