went and checked an old tool box back under my storage rack and what did I find.....

A pair of the hold straps for the top to the top frame when stored. Buckle and ends black paint and the actual strap cloth and black but dry rotted, no telling how I will fix that.

They came with my orginal Bugeye in 1962 and I tucked them away as I never knew what they were for.

Yea for the good guys.

Found a source for 1" cotton webbing black. .80 a yard of course 5 bucks to mail. Package inbound, My tips and buckles are just fine.

One more orginal item that I don't need to look for.

Huh. Looks like a standard MIL-sourced strap. Used to see those more often on small sturdy mailing boxes. In fact, I have such a box holding a bunch of old Astatic mic parts.

I'll just bet that there is a crate of those sitting in a MIL surplus warehouse somewhere.

Have you figured out how to get the old one apart without destroying the hardware and how to reassemble the new one?

Well, easy to get the rivets out, now the ends just might be another matter. Think I will wait till my new webbing arrives.
